Mersham Sports Club have a strong football section with two Senior Mens teams, a Ladies team and a flourishing Youth section.

Football at Mersham

The beautiful grounds of Mersham Sports Football Club are on the outskirts of the village around 6 miles from Ashford Town centre – one of the very best amateur grounds in the local area – an opinion shared by many!

We are a Charter Standard Developing Club, run by a dedicated group of volunteers, whose aim to ensure that the club provides an engaging football experience for our Junior and Senior football sections.

We have 2 successful men’s team playing in the Ashford Sunday League, our First team in the Premier Division and Reserves in Division 3. A Ladies Team, new to Mersham last season, play in the South East Counties Women’s League Division 1 East and we have over 160 junior members who play primarily in the Ashford District Youth League, with our U11’s playing their second season in the East Kent Youth League – providing youth football from 5 to 18 years old.

Club colours across all teams are burgundy and sky blue.

Junior Football

Our fundamental aim is to provide an environment where each child not only improves their footballing skills, but also learns and develops the importance of playing by the rules, teamwork and social interaction. But most importantly has fun!

Whilst we enjoy wining, we believe that the Club’s success is measured more by how we develop players, how we play the game and how we conduct ourselves, rather than the number of games or trophies won. At Mersham we pride ourselves on how well our teams are respected within the leagues.

Priding ourselves on our Charter Standard Developing Club attainment, we ensure that each team within our youth section has a minimum of one FA Qualified coach, with 1st aid training, safeguarding qualifications and that all those that assist with training and match day have enhanced DBS checks.

Currently all our teams for the 2020/21 are at full capacity so we cannot take on any more players. – this includes our Under 6 Development Squad.  However, please feel free to contact individual coaches to be added to a waiting list and you will be contacted should a position arise during the season.

Adult Men’s

Men’s football has been played in Mersham for decades – but as Mersham Sports Club only since the 1950’s, when a single team played in the Ashford Saturday league. In the 1970’s this team moved to the Ashford & District Sunday League and at varying points through the years have been able to sustain a Reserves side, we are proud to say that the Reserves have been our second team consistently since 1989.

Currently Mersham Sports Club fields 2 men’s adult teams, both play in the Ashford & District Sunday league – our 1st Team in the Premier Division and our Reserves in Division 3 – both have a mid-morning kick off with home games at our Flood Street ground.
