Junior Cricket at MSC

Mersham has one of the largest junior sections in the area, catering for all ages and abilities. We want all our players to develop a passion for the game and to build their skills in a fun and supportive environment. We are proud of our ability to develop boys and girls of all levels, and many of our children have progressed through representative age group cricket, including Kent Pathway players.

For 5-11 year olds new to cricket, please see the 'ECB National Programmes' section for information about our All-Stars (5-7 years) and Dynamos (8-11 years) Programmes. This is a perfect opportunity for the whole family to come and enjoy the club.

Mixed Hardball Cricket

We run Under 11, Under 13, and Under 16 squads that train from January until August, with 10 weeks of indoor training before heading outdoors to the Mersham Ground in April for the rest of the Summer.

Our objective is to ensure all players continue to build their love for the game, no matter how new they are to the game and their ability level. For younger and developing players, we work hard to ensure the transition into hardball goes smoothly with a broad range of accessible and fun games.

Under 11s: Our Under 11s play pairs cricket in the Ashford Junior Cricket League as a great introduction to match play that keeps everyone involved and gives them all a chance to bat and bowl.

Under 13s: Our Under 13s play 11-a-side cricket in the Ashford Junior Cricket League. We run two mixed teams during the Summer.

Under 16s: Our Under 16s play 11-a-side cricket in the Ashford Junior Cricket League.

Girl's Cricket

Mersham has an U11 girls team competing in the softball Saxon Shore League.

We also look for opportunities to sign up for girls-only competitions, we regularly enter the ECB Girls Regional Cup Competition at Under 13 and Under 15 age groups.

Colts Day

Colts Day is Mersham's annual Junior cricket celebration and presentation evening as part of the club's cricket week.

During the day, we hold a competition for all hardball players, competing to be Colts Day Champions! Teams are made up of all ages, under the guidance of one of our coaches and captained by one of the U16's.

It is a fantastic, fun day for all. Following the competition, we hold our end-of-season presentation, with batting, bowling, fielding, and coaches' awards for all teams.

Join our 2026 programs

It all starts with ALL-STARS

A great introduction to the game for 5-8 year olds - sessions are focused on fun, movement, and very basic skills. The programme includes 8 weeks (plus a bonus celebration week) of Friday evenings of fun and engaging sessions for beginners, delivered by our trained activators, with lots of opportunities for parents to be involved as well, playing with your child in the summer sunshine.

Participants receive a player pack including a bag, bat, and ball when they register, as well as their very own t-shirt, personalised with their name!

Dynamos Cricket

Dynamos Cricket provides a fantastic next step for all those graduating from All Stars Cricket and the perfect introduction for all 8-11 year-olds new to the sport!

Dynamos is all about fun and provides children with a more social offer, focusing on developing the fundamental skills required to play cricket.

We know how important it is to look like the heroes of the game, so every child who registers will receive their very own Dynamos Cricket t-shirt, personalised with their name and number.

Open Age Cricket

Mersham Sports Club has a long history of being one of the most successful village cricket clubs in the county, boasting numerous titles throughout the years.

We currently have two Saturday sides playing in the Kent Cricket League and an emerging 3rd XI playing ad hoc friendly fixtures.

The 1st XI are currently playing at the top of tier 4 in Division 5 Hurricane, our highest league position to date, and narrowly missed out on promotion in 2025, being scuppered by rain on play-off day after finishing 2nd in the division.

The 2nd XI went the whole of 2025 undefeated, finishing top of Division 10 Shepherd gaining promotion to Division 9 for 2026.

On Sundays, we have one side playing in Division 2 of the Kent Village League.

New members are always welcome to join us for nets on a Thursday evening, or contact one of the committee members in the cricket contacts section to register your interest.

Join our New Walking Cricket Team

An exciting new Cricket Project at Mersham Sports Club for the 2026 season!

Looking for a way to stay active without the high-speed intensity of a full-scale match? 🏏

Mersham Sports Cricket Club will be hosting a “WALKING CRICKET TEAM” during the 2026 Cricket season, and you are cordially invited to attend our taster event to have a look at this friendly version of Cricket that is primarily aimed at those Ladies and Gents whose mobility may be slightly “inhibited” due to those increasing years. Whether you’re a retired pro or you’ve never even held a bat, this is a fantastic way to enjoy the game at a steadier pace.

Weekly practice sessions are planned to take place at 1.00 pm on Friday Afternoons following our Taster session, and we have also entered a team in the first “Walking Cricket League” in the county, playing matches against other local teams such as Folkestone, Sandwich, and Street End.

📅 When: Every Friday | 1pm - 3pm

📍 Where: Mersham Sports Ground

Practice sessions will be run by Qualified Cricket Coaches, and all equipment needed will be provided by the club.

Contact the team coach, Ian Fagg, if you have any questions about our Walking Cricket Project.

Also, please forward information to other friends and family members who may be interested in participating!
