Junior Cricket at Mersham has been a part of the club since the early 90’s with many players progressing on to senior level and enjoying cricket into their adult lives.

We have sessions for all ages from 5+ aimed to help develop your child’s skills and ability under the guidance of our coaching team; all sessions are open to both boys and girls.

All-Stars Cricket 5-8 years

All-Stars Cricket is a great way for your son/daughter to get their first taste of cricket with 8 weeks of fun and games starting in May each year.

The ECB initiative helps children get a great first taste of the sport and develop fundamental movement skills along with cricket specific skills in a safe, fun environment lead by our trained activators and parent helpers with the emphasis on having loads and loads of fun.

Under 9’s Kwik Cricket

Our Under 9 group is aimed at those who have come through All-Stars or soft ball beginners to the game, again focused around fun, active sessions developing both fundamental and cricket specific skills running from end of April until mid-August, led by our qualified coaches.

The Under 9’s also get their first taste of competitive cricket, competing in the Kent Cricket Mini Super 8’s Competition; local tournaments are held during June and July against other local clubs with the hope of qualifying for the county finals, which we have attended numerous times in the past.

Hardball Squads- Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15

Our u11, u13 and u15 squads all play hard ball cricket with pads, gloves, and helmets, which we can provide for those that don’t have their own.

Training runs from January to August with preseason indoor sessions in the spring then training continues throughout the summer at the ground for all age groups until mid-August.

Teams play competitive matches in the Ashford District Junior League throughout the summer against other local teams.

We currently run;

2 Under 11 teams- playing pairs cricket

2 Under 13 teams

1 Under 15 team

Juniors over 13 are encouraged to play in our adult sides where appropriate to help with their development and experience of cricket.
